Project idea for a botanical garden in
Mallorca and sustainable refurbishment
of the adjacent office building facade
Coming first to Mallorca in 2016 I was
wondering about the abandoned office building on the entrance highway into
the city overlooking Palma Beach.
As an idea I developed this proposal for a refurbished `green` facade, using timber
and vegetation for shading.
Further I imagined transforming the
relatively unused grass area west of the building into a botanical garden linked to
the new `green` entrance building to
Palma at ground level.
I have since learned that the building is listed as architectural heritage and cannot easily be transformed to accommodate a new use with refurbished, contemporary facades.
