Aquarium, Science Centre and Explorer Dock

Situated at the Elbe-Riverbank in the Hamburg City-Harbour the new Oceanarium features a large Aquarium and related Science Centre as well as an Explorer Dock for Sea-Scientists.

The main Aquarium is housed in a huge 20m high atrium, enhancing the experience of depth and underwater immersion.
The circulation zone functions as a filter separating the dimly lit aquarium from the exhibition spaces of the science centre, which have louvered glass-facades for controllable natural lighting as well as great views over the Harbour.
The Explorer Dock features a container like stacking of modular laboratories – some of which can be detached and taken to sea for further experimentations.
